Just Right

The cement block pillow, like Sutton is using here, is too hard.

The fence panel chin rest, like Patrick is using here, is too thin.

But, the combination of the cement block & the fence panel, like Littleton is using here, is JUST RIGHT.

A Little Bit of Self Promotion

I am a shepherdess.  A woman whose job is to take care of sheep.  I do this everyday, 365 days a year, because I love my sheep.

I am also an artist.  I turn my sheeps' fleeces into a wide variety of wool items.  I do this by processing their fleeces and then taking the resulting wool and spinning, weaving, felting, quilting, knitting, dyeing, and sewing with it.

The Babydolls' wool is beautiful and I love to work with it.  I do not use any other breeds of sheep wool.  I think my Babydolls would be a bit miffed if I did.

Raising sheep, like most livestock, for the most part is a labor of love.  I know a few shepherds and I've not heard any of them say they made enough money selling sheep, lambs, meat, fiber, or product made from the fiber that their business is "in the black".  But, I, like all of them, sure would like to say I'm "in the black" which brings me to the subject of this blog post.

I have a link on my website to my shoppes.  They are shoppes, as opposed to shops, because my sheep originated in England...cute, huh?  I have two shoppes, a Simply Wool Shoppe and a Handmade Shoppe.

My Simply Wool Shoppe contains the items other fiber artists would be interested in purchasing to make their own handmade items with, such as fleece, batts, rolags, roving, and yarn.

My Handmade Shoppe contains items I've created from start to finish with the Babydoll Southdown wool.  I hire a pro each year to shear my sheep and then I complete all of the processing of the fleeces and the making of the handmade products (with the exception of the quilts - my mother is a big contributor to these) here on the farm.  One can find hats, scarves, blankets, afghans, quilts, yarn, rugs, coil baskets and more.  Almost every day, I spend some time working in the process of creating unique, one-of-a-kind items.

I also have a separate page with all of my sold items. In some cases, I am able to duplicate a sold item or make something similar.  Contact me to discuss the details.

And I take photos of my sheep.  I take photos of my sheep every. single. day.  I LOVE to take photos of my sheep.  I post these photos on my sheep facebook page.  I can have any of these photos matted for you to frame and hang in your home.  If you fall in love with one of my photos, contact me.  I also had postcards and note cards made and they can be found in the Handmade Shoppe.

In closing, support a local farmer, support a local artist (preferably me on both counts), help me support my flock of Babydolls.  If you're in need of wool or handmade wool products, or sheep, or lambs, check out my website.  You'll be glad you did.

My latest handmade item.  Kalin's Cozy Neck Warmer

THANK YOU!

Note: PayPal is accepted via my website for all shoppe items.
